Dr. Olukolu’s recent publications.
Dr. Olukolu obtained a BS degree in botany at Obafemi Awolowo University, an MS degree in genetics at the University of Ibadan, and a PhD in genetics at Clemson University. Following postdoctoral positions at Clemson University and NC State University, and an appointment as a Research Assistant Professor working on sweetpotato genetics and genomics towards crop improvement, Dr. Olukolu joined the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
By integrating quantitative genetics and the more recent genomic technologies, his goal is to understand the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying important agronomic traits in simple and complex polyploid genomes. His research interest also includes understanding how multi-way plant-pathogen-microbe and plant-pest-microbe interactions modulate the plant defense response pathways. To achieve this at the systems level, Dr. Olukolu is developing new analytical approaches and bioinformatic tools to aid the integration of multi-omic datasets.
